Best Camping Pillows in 2021

Camping Pillows

Published: July 15, 2021

Out of all the camping gears, camping pillows are usually left behind and overlooked on the list. But if you want to experience a comfortable sleep that will help you get energized the next day, we suggest that you bring a pillow that can best mimic the coziness of your bed at home.

While pillows will not make or break any camping trip, it can have a huge impact on how you’ll be sleeping all throughout your journey. Of course, nobody wants to toss and turn the entire night, which is why we believe that having the right camping pillow is vital to have an enjoyable trip.

To write this article, we asked other hikers about their sleeping preferences and favorite pillows to bring on their camping trips. We picked the 12 best camping pillows and segregated them according to their categories. We have the best overall camping pillow, best inflatable, best for stomach sleepers, side sleepers, the ones with great head support, and the best water-resistant camping pillows.

Best overall camping pillow

1. Therm-a-Rest Air Head Down Pillow

Therm-a-Rest Air Head Down Pillow

Weight: 5.4oz

Measurement: 18” x 12.5” x 4”

Packed Volume: 0.6L

Materials: 650 Fill Duck Nikwax Hydrophobic Down RDS, Polyester and Down Cover, Urethane Insert

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

The Therm-a-Rest Air Head Down Pillow is considered by many hikers as lightweight, efficient, comfortable, and easy to pack, which is why we gave it our best overall camping pillow award. Although it’s not an ultralight pillow, it’s comfortable and ergonomically shaped to best-fit back and side sleepers.

Comfort

What we like about the Air Head Down Pillow is that it’s comfortable and doesn’t move too much while you’re sleeping. The first thing that we would like to mention is how the Therm-a-Rest was able to combine the quilted polyester fabric with the down-topped design.

The down fabric on top of the pillow and the polyester fabric make it easy to sleep on, but in can cause some people allergic reactions. On the other side of the pillow, you’ll find the more flexible and thicker bladder. With it, you won’t feel your head pushed back, rather, it shifts its weight to accommodate your movements.

Easy to use

Another thing that we like about the Air Head Down is its twist valve, which makes it easy to inflate and deflate the pillow. Being easy to find, this valve allows you to twist it and let some air out of the pillow, even in the middle of the night. The valve itself is connected in the interior bladder and is separated from the down top, thus making it simple to maneuver, repair, and even clean the fabric.

Packed size and weight

The Air Head Down is only the size of a medium apple when it’s packed in its stuff sack. Therefore, it is easy to carry around anywhere, even if you’re only traveling with a backpack. Even though it weighs 5.4oz, many campers are happy with its given weight and comfort.

Many pillows that are focused on comfort and luxury tend to be heavier, and ultra-lightweight pillows tend to provide poor comfort.

Support

The last thing that we like about the Air Head Down is that it’s comfortable enough for both back and side sleepers to sleep sound at night. The pillow is ergonomically shaped to provide neck support, even when you’re lifting your head.

What we didn’t like about the Therm-a-Rest Air Head Down camping pillow, on the other hand, is that it’s quite expensive. Because of the down fabric, it does not only increase the price tag, but also the weight. Additionally, many hikers mentioned that the down fabric can cause some allergic reactions, so make sure to check your allergic reactions first.

Best inflatable camping pillows

2. Sea to Summit Aeros

Sea to Summit Aeros

Weight: 3.1oz

Measurement: 14” x 8” x 5” (high side) 4” (low side)

Packed Volume: 0.4L

Materials: Polyester, Nylon, and TPU

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

The Sea to Summit has been a fans’ favorite because it packs small, requires only about three full breaths for it to be inflated until sunrise, gives you two sides for your comfort preferences, and is lightweight.

Comfort

What we like about the Aeros camping pillow is that it’s a lot more comfortable than most inflatable pillows. The soft outer polyester, which covers the air chamber, provides good thickness. One side of the pillow is an inch higher, giving you the option to switch sides in the middle of the night without needing to fill up additional air.

Ease of use

This Sea to Summit pillow only requires three full breaths for it to be completely filled. If you need to adjust it, there’s also a small button that you can push. It can be found inside the inflation valve, thus making it easier to release air slowly. As with other inflatable pillows on the market, it’s a lot harder to fill this pillow with air while adjusting it to fit your preferences.

Packed size and weight

One of the strong aspects of the Sea to Summit Aeros is its small size when packed. It only occupies .4 liters of space, making it ideal for long backpacking trips. Also, the 3.1-ounce weight, which is a little heavier than other inflatable pillows, is justified by the Aeros’ added comfort, unlike lighter pillows.

What we didn’t like about the Sea to Summit Aeros is that, because it’s too small, many campers mentioned that at times, the pillow would slide off their heads. Also, like the previous product, it’s on the expensive side of camping pillows. Other than that, it’s one of the best camping pillows on the market because of its weight and durability.

3. Trekology Aluft 2.0

Trekology Aluft 2.0

Weight: 3.4oz

Measurement: 16” x 12” x 4”

Packed Volume: 0.7L

Materials: Polyester and TPU

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

The next item on our list for the best inflatable camping pillow is the Trekology Ultralight Camping Pillow, or commonly called “the Trekology Aluft 2.0” by backpackers. Available for just under $20, many people are surprised by how lightweight and comfortable this pillow is. It’s also one of the most sought out camping pillows on Amazon.

Comfort

What we like about the Aluft 2.0 is that its comfortable polyester fabric on top makes the pillow soft to touch, while the bottom TPU creates enough friction to stop the pillow from slipping from your head.

It has a one-way valve, which means that if you want to deflate it a little, you would need to open and shut the valve fast, so that you won’t have to blow up the whole thing again. Many hikers mentioned that what they try to do is to completely fill up the air bladder, and once they’re done, they let out some air before closing the valve.

This helps them achieve their comfort preferences in terms of using an inflatable pillow. With its ergonomic curve, the Aluft 2.0 is best used by back and side sleepers.

Ease of use

Trekology suggests that you would need 5-8 breaths to completely fill it up, but many users were able to do it in just four full breaths.

While testing this pillow, some hikers mentioned that they had a hard time returning it to its stuff sack. Even when they tried to roll the pillow to let all the air out, sometimes, it would just not fit in. This is the reason why some people would suggest not bringing the stuff sack at all, and instead just put the rolled-up pillow into one of their backpack pockets.

Packed size and weight

When packed, the Aluft 2.0 is almost the size of a soda can, which ultimately means that you can put it almost anywhere on your pack, even at the hood of your bag. It only weighs 3.4 ounces, but if you’re a weight-conscious hiker, you can opt to remove the pillow strap and not bring the stuff sack to remove at least .25 ounces.

What we didn’t like about the Trekology Ultralight Camping Pillow is that it makes a slight noise every time you inflate it. Although the noise slowly disappeared with continuous use, it still may annoy some people.

Also, the strap on the pillow that supposedly stops the pillow from slipping doesn’t work on smooth sleeping mats. But, for its price point, weight, and the comfort it provides, you’ll be fully satisfied with this pillow.

4. WELLAX Ultralight Camping Pillow

WELLAX Ultralight Camping Pillow

Weight: 2.75oz

Measurement: 16” x 12” x 4”

Packed Volume: 0.6L

Materials: Nylon and TPU

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

Just like the previous product, the WELLAX Ultralight is one of Amazon’s most sold camping pillows. With its comfortable and smooth fabric, packed size and weight, and affordability, you can never go wrong with this one.

Comfort

What we like about the WELLAX pillow is that it’s focused on comfort and support. When inflated, it becomes a big enough pillow, so you don’t have to worry about your head falling off the sides.

The upper fabric feels smooth on the skin, so you don’t have to cover it with a cloth to sleep. Plus, the bottom part is made of a slip-resistant fabric, which many users have said to be effective in terms of keeping the pillow in place, even when you’re tossing it and turning in the middle of the night.

WELLAX has proven themselves to be going beyond the miles, because they included a 100% top-quality silk sleeping mask with the pillow. Many campers have used this mask, and said that it also felt comfortable and had let them feel even more relaxed.

Additionally, because of its size when filled up and its ergonomic design, this pillow is best used by side and back sleepers.

Ease of use

This inflatable camping pillow has a double-decked air valve design. You’ll be able to blow the air in on the upper deck, and release the air on the bottom part. It usually takes about 3-5 full breaths to completely fill it up with air, depending on how firm you want the pillow to be.

The two-way air valve design makes it easy to release some air over the night. By quickly opening and closing the bottom valve, you can release as much air as you want. Just remember to do it quickly, as you wouldn’t want to inflate the pillow all over again in the middle of the night.

Packed size and weight

The WELLAX camping pillow is included in every ultralightweight category because it only weighs 2.75 ounces (this includes the stuff sack). Most weight-conscious hikers choose this pillow not only because of its weight, but also because it’s easy to put back in the pack.

By opening the bottom valve and rolling the pillow toward the valve, you can easily let all the air out and put it back on the stuff sack.

We honestly couldn’t find anything wrong with the WELLAX Ultralight Camping Pillow. It’s comfortable enough for anyone to sleep soundly at night, it’s ultralight, easy to pack, and affordable. Plus, the company provides a Refund or Replace Your Purchase policy if you’re ever unhappy with their product.

Best camping pillows for stomach sleepers

5. Klymit Pillow XL

Klymit Pillow XL

Weight: 3.2oz

Measurement: 17” x 12” x 4.25”

Packed Volume: 0.7L

Materials: 75D Polyester

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

Not everyone is comfortable sleeping on their stomach, but if you’re like some hikers who prefer it this way, then you should check out the Klymit Pillow XL. With its unique approach to design, durability, and affordability, you’ll be surprised by how comfortable this X design feels.

Comfort

What we like about the Klymit Pillow XL is that it focuses on bringing comfort to back and stomach sleepers. The 75D polyester material feels a little slippery, but when paired with a cloth, you won’t feel this anymore.

The good thing about this material though is that it makes this pillow extremely durable. Even though the division of the X-shaped design consists in some stitching, you don’t have to worry about breaking it off. Many hikers mentioned that they have been using this same pillow for more than three years now.

Also, the X-shaped design makes the Klymit pillow adjustable. You can choose to inflate some parts of the pillow and let the other side have little air. This way, if you want to switch to a different pillow height in the middle of the night, you can just turn this pillow in a couple of ways and you’ll get the ideal fit you want.

It’s also worth mentioning that you don’t have to worry about your head falling off on the sides, like you would with other inflatable pillows, because it keeps your head in the middle even when you toss it and turn.

Packed size and weight

Another strong aspect of the Klymit Pillow XL is its size and weight. When fully deflated, you can fit it almost anywhere in your backpack because it is almost the same size as a lighter. At 3.2oz, it’s also lightweight enough to bring it on the go.

What we didn’t like about the Klymit XL, however, is that it’s not so easy to use. You would need a couple of tries to fill it the way you want. Since there’s only one valve, you only have one area to inflate and deflate the pillow. Plus, you would need to find out how many breaths you need to take to fill it up the way you feel most comfortable.

6. Western Mountaineering Cloudrest Down Pillow

Western Mountaineering Cloudrest Down Pillow

Weight: 3.5oz

Measurement: 12” x 16” x 4”

Packed Volume: 1.2L

Materials: Goose Down

Stuff Sack Included: Built-in

If you’re looking for a bigger camping pillow that can be a substitute for your full-sized home pillow, then the Western Mountaineering Cloudrest Down Pillow should be at the top of your list. It focuses on comfort and size, thus making it perfect for back, side, and stomach sleepers.

Comfort

What we like about the WM Cloudrest is that, with its 800 fill power goose down, this pillow is one of the softest products in this review. Once it’s filled with air, the weight increases to 5 ounces, which is worth considering especially if you’re a weight-conscious hiker.

Because of its size when filled, it can cradle your head, meaning that you don’t have to worry about your head slipping off of it in the middle of the night. Additionally, because of its common rectangular size, it can accommodate any sleeping position, thus increasing its versatility.

Ease of use

Compared to the products reviewed above, the WM Cloudrest is equipped with a built-in stuff sack. With this design, you will never have to go look for the pillow’s stuff sack while you’re fixing your gears. Plus, this makes it even easier to put it back, store it, and take it out whenever you need it.

What we didn’t like about the Western Mountaineering Cloudrest Down Pillow, however, is that it’s quite large and heavier than the other products. Because of the built-in stuff sack and the down material, it’s not easy to compress. Plus, if you’re going to store it in your backpack, make sure you have ample extra space for it to fit.

Best camping pillows for side sleepers

7. Nemo Equipment Fillo Pillow

Nemo Equipment Fillo Pillow

Weight: 9 oz

Measurement: 16” x 9.5” 4.5”

Packed Volume: 1.4L

Materials: Polyester, Microfiber / Microsuede Outer Layer

Stuff Sack Included: Integrated

Considered by many hikers as one of the best camping pillows on the market today, the Nemo Equipment Fillo Pillow offers great comfort, versatility, and durability. With its integrated stuff sack, you’ll surely love what this pillow has to offer.

Comfort

What we like about the Nemo Equipment Fillo is that it’s a combination of an inflatable and compressible pillow, which makes it extremely comfortable. The bladder at the bottom allows you to put as much air as you want to elevate it to your liking. On the upper side, you’ll find a memory foam that gives it softness.

Because of the large surface, you don’t have to worry about your head falling off in the middle of the night. Most users mentioned that they noticed some noise when moving their heads across the pillow, but the softness of the pillow’s fabric makes you forget about it.

Finally, this pillow provides great support for both back and side sleepers because of its memory foam and shape. Plus, since it’s inflatable, you can increase or decrease the air inside of it easily in order to get it to your liking.

Ease of use

Many hikers love the fact that the Fillo Pillow has an integrated stuff sack in it. This means that once you take it out, you can store the stuff sack inside the pillow area, and just take it out once you’re done using the pillow. This also saves you time from rummaging your backpack to look for the stuff sack of your pillow.

As for the inflatable part, you will only need three full breaths to completely fill up this pillow. If you’re not a fan of large pillows, you can opt to release some of its air until you’re satisfied. The air valve is easy to use and seems quite durable.

What we didn’t like about the Nemo Equipment Fillo Pillow is that it’s one of the heaviest camping pillows in this review. Weighing 9 ounces, this pillow is not ideal for long backpacking trips. Rather, this is best used if you’re going car camping.

Additionally, we find the integrated stuff sack quite small to fit the pillow easily. If it was a couple of inches longer, this would have been a great sack. Although, this is not a deal breaker.

8. RikkiTikki Inflatable Camping Pillow

RikkiTikki Inflatable Camping Pillow

Weight: 4oz

Measurement: 15” x 12” x 4.5”

Packed Volume: 0.6L

Materials: Light Transparent TPU

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

Many people are surprised by how comfortable and packable the RikkiTikki Inflatable camping pillow is. At below the $20 price tag, many Amazon buyers are satisfied with this product because it was worth their dime.

Comfort

What we like about the RikkiTikki Inflatable pillow is that it’s pretty straightforward. The TPU material is not as soft as other products in this review, but by covering it up with a cloth, you’ll be able to sleep on it soundly.

Also, compared to other inflatable pillows, we didn’t notice any plastic sound when we were moving our heads around the surface, which is a big plus on our side. Because of its rectangular shape, many side sleepers recommend this pillow to those who also prefer to sleep in this position.

Packed size and weight

Another feature that we like about this pillow is that, when it’s packed, it’s almost the size of a large apple. This makes it easy for many hikers to put it inside the pockets of their backpacks without ever worrying about it taking up too much space.

Even though it weighs 4 ounces, it’s still light enough for you to carry around. It also has a strap around the stuff sack, which makes it easy to bring it anywhere you go. Whether you’re using it for your camping needs, on an airplane, or at work, you will never have any problem carrying this around.

Ease of use

You will only need 3-5 full breaths to inflate this pillow, and just like other inflatable pillows, you can let the air out through its valve to fit your preferences. Since it’s less than $20, we didn’t expect to see any complicated valves. And indeed, the RikkiTikki Inflatable pillow only has one valve, so make sure to close it quickly and properly after blowing up air into it, to ensure that you won’t end up with a deflated pillow over the night.

We actually didn’t find any downside to the RikkiTikki Inflatable camping pillow. Although, since it is affordable, you shouldn’t expect too much from it. Some hikers mentioned that the pillow lasted only a year or two, but it will all come down to how you take care of it.

Best camping pillows with great head support

9. COOP HOME GOODS Memory Foam Travel and Camping Pillow

COOP HOME GOODS Memory Foam Travel and Camping Pillow

Weight: 36oz

Measurement: 19” x 14” x 4”

Packed Volume: 8L

Materials: Rayon and Polyester

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

Memory foams, without a doubt, provide maximum comfort. And with the COOP HOME GOODS Memory Foam Travel and Camping Pillow, you’ll surely enjoy sleeping at your campsite every time.

Comfort

What we like about the COOP HOME GOODS Memory Foam camping pillow is that it’s soft to touch, and it feels good to rest your head on it. Many users were so satisfied with this pillow that they actually bought a full-size pillow for their beds at home.

Since it has a hypoallergenic shredded memory foam fill, we didn’t find any complaints from the users, even from those who didn’t cover it up with a pillowcase or a cloth. It’s a camping pillow with great head support, so whether you’re a back, stomach, or side sleeper, you’ll instantly feel comfortable once you lie down.

Also, you don’t need to worry about your head falling off in the middle of the night, because it’s so large that even if you move around, your head will stay in place.

In many Amazon reviews, people mentioned that the pillow had a strange smell. Although, it’s worth noting that almost all memory foam pillows have this distinct smell. To remove it, make sure to follow the instructions given by the manufacturer. In this specific camping pillow’s case, you should put it in the dryer the instant that you receive it for 5 minutes.

Another thing that we like about this camping pillow is that the stuff sack is machine washable and water-resistant. This means that your pillow will stay safe and dry inside the stuff sack, even if you’re camping in wet areas.

What we didn’t like about the COOP HOME GOODS Memory Foam camping pillow, on the other hand, is that it’s heavy and bulky. Because it features full memory foam, you won’t be able to compress it. Plus, due to its material, it’s so heavy that you won’t be able to bring it on your backpacking trips. The most ideal way to use this pillow is when you’re traveling in a car.

10. Rugged Camp Pillow

Rugged Camp Pillow

Weight: 2.75oz

Measurement: 16” x 12” x 4”

Packed Volume: 0.6L

Materials: Knitted Cotton

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

We chose the Rugged Camp Pillow as one of our best camping pillows with great head support because of the comfort and stability it offers. It’s one of the lightest pillows in this category that can cradle your head and not let it fall off.

Comfort

What we like about the Rugged Camp Pillow is that it’s a comfortable inflatable pillow. This means that by just relying on the air that you put into it, you can adjust its size. Whether you prefer to have a fully inflated pillow or a somewhat semi-deflated one, you’ll surely instantly fall asleep.

Because of its ergonomic design, you can sleep in any position on this pillow. The curve also allows your neck to rest in between your head and shoulder, which makes it even plusher. Additionally, its span is big enough for your head not to easily fall off.

The compact size also makes it easy to bring this pillow around, therefore making it versatile. You can either sleep on it when you’re camping and traveling, or even put it on your back for lumbar support.

The bottom part of the pillow has a non-slip material, which means that you won’t have to worry about it slipping off your sleeping pad. Lastly, it’s also water-resistant, so you can rest assured that it will perform well anywhere you go.

Ease of use

You will only need 3-5 full breaths to fully inflate this camping pillow. It has a two-way air valve design. You can blow the air in the upper portion of the valve, and release it at the bottom part, which makes the process effortless if you’re trying to figure out how inflated you want it to be.

Packed size and weight

It’s also simple to deflate and put it back on its stuff sack. Since it has a compact size, you can put it almost anywhere on your backpack, but most hikers prefer to store theirs inside their backpack pockets for easy access.

A lot of weight-conscious hikers also choose the Rugged camping pillow because of its 2.75-ounce weight. If you’re looking to cut off a little more weight, you can decide not to bring the stuff sack.

We didn’t find any drawbacks on the Rugged Camping Pillow, but it’s worth noting that you would need to be extra careful when storing this product. Many reviewers have mentioned that they are concerned about the durability of this pillow, but they all think that it’s worth its price.

Best water-resistant camping pillows

11. Trekology Ultralight Inflating Pillow Aluft 1.0

Trekology Ultralight Inflating Pillow Aluft 1.0

Weight: 2.8oz

Measurement: 16” x 12” x 4”

Packed Volume: 0.6L

Materials: Polyester and TPU

Stuff Sack Included: Yes

Another camping pillow that’s considered as one of the best water-resistant and ultralightweight pillows on the market today is the Trekology Ultralight Aluft 1.0 Inflating Pillow. Because of its ergonomic design, polyester, and TPU material, you’ll instantly feel comfortable once you lie down on it.

Comfort

What we like about the Aluft 1.0 is that it’s ergonomically-shaped to cradle your head even if you sleep in various positions. The curve in the middle lets your head stay on it. Some hikers didn’t need to cover the pillow with a cloth, because it’s already soft against their skin.

Additionally, the water-resistant feature makes it versatile enough for you to use it anywhere you go. Whether you’re sleeping in a tent, in an airplane, or on a boat, you’ll surely get an eyes hut. The bottom part of the pillow is slip-resistant, which is a fans’ favorite feature, because users don’t have to worry about losing the pillow while they’re sleeping.

Ease of use

Just like the Aluft 2.0, the Aluft 1.0 has a double-deck air valve system, which makes it easy to both inflate and deflate the pillow. If you’re going to inflate in, all you have to do is push the valve upward. It only takes 3-5 breaths to fully inflate the pillow.

If you want to let some air out, there’s a button that you can press, so that you can control how much air to release. To completely deflate it, push the button down again to let all the air out.

Packed size and weight

The Aluft 1.0 is one of the most compact and lightweight camping pillows in this review. Thanks to its lightweight materials, you’ll only have to carry 2.8 ounces. Also, it comes with a stuff sack, so it will be much easier for you to carry it around.

The only downside that we found for this product on Amazon is that some users had difficulties opening the valve in cooler weather. This is worth noting, since you wouldn’t want to puncture your pillow when you’re just trying to open it in the middle of your camping trip.

12. MARCHWAY Ultralight Compact Inflatable Camping Pillow

Another lightweight and water-resistant inflatable camping pillow is the MARCHWAY Ultralight Compact pillow. It has all the right proponents and curves to make you feel comfortable in your sleep. If you’re looking for a more affordable option for your travel pillow, then this should be at the top of your list.

Comfort

Much like other inflatable pillows, the MARCHWAY camping pillow is soft on the skin thanks to the polyester material. The bottom part also has a slip-resistant material that keeps it in place, even if you move around while sleeping.

Because of the comfort it gives at its price, many hikers choose to bring this pillow with them during quick backpacking trips. Also, we’ve read some reviews online saying that a few people brought this pillow with them when they’re traveling or even when sleeping at a hotel.

Ease of use

Just like the previous product, the MARCHWAY camping pillow has a two-way air valve, which makes it easy for anyone to inflate it without worrying if the air might come out. You can inflate the pillow on the upper portion of the valve and deflate it on the other side.

Packed size and weight

The other feature that we like on the MARCHWAY is that it’s compact and lightweight. Because of its small size, you can literally put it almost anywhere, including in your pocket. Weighing only 2.8 ounces, you will not mind its little weight.

What we didn’t like about the MARCHWAY Ultralight Compact Camping Pillow is that in some reviews found online, users stated that they received pillows with little holes on them, rendering them useless. The good thing about Marchway though is that they have an outstanding customer service that replaces the item that you bought.

Although, it’s worth mentioning that they have a 30-day return policy, so make sure to try the pillow as soon as you receive it.

Reasons to get a camping pillow

Even if you can bring your own full-sized pillow or make a pillow-like structure with your clothes while camping, it just feels different to have a comfortable camping pillow that provides great support. Not does it only prevent your back from aching the next day, but it can also create a big jumpstart on your day.

Here are some reasons why you need to get a camping pillow for your next backpacking trip.

  1. It’s lightweight

Even if you’re a weight-conscious hiker, there are loads of manufacturers that offer lightweight camping pillows. Ultralightweight inflatable pillows have a weight ranging from 1.5 ounces to 2.6 ounces, while non-inflatable pillows weight 13 ounces on average.

  1. It’s compact

Most inflatable pillows are rolled-up when they are not in use. Once packed, the typical size is about as little as a soda can. This means that you can put it almost anywhere on your backpack or even on the pocket of your fanny pack.

The average size of a deflated pillow: 8.5” x 5”

The average size of an inflated pillow: 17” x 12” x 4”

Non-inflatable pillows are not as compact as their counterparts, which means you need to save up some space in order to bring them with you. These pillows are usually compressible, meaning you can fold them and put them in a stuff sack.

The average size of a compressed pillow: 5” x 3”

  1. Some pillows are water-resistant

Contrary to your bedroom pillows, some camping pillows are water-resistant, and can therefore handle various weather conditions. If you’re traveling on unfamiliar terrains where you have chances of experiencing rainfall, we suggest that you choose a pillow with this feature.

Additionally, if you’re camping on a terrain where there’s a huge possibility of experiencing condensation inside the tent, having a water-resistant pillow can help reduce the “sweating” of the material of the pillow.

  1. It lets your bedroom pillow rest

Nobody wants to have a bedroom pillow that smells like campfire smoke or like sweat from all your gears, or that is so compressed that you can see it folded in half. Having a separate camping pillow will save you the trouble of cleaning your bedroom pillow.

Final thoughts

Having a camping pillow that can handle your favorite sleeping position is a great feeling, especially when you’re camping in the wilderness. With all the reasons to get a pillow that we’ve mentioned above, you may now understand why some hikers prefer to use these specific pillows instead of regular ones.
