ZODI Outback Gear Extreme SC Hot Shower

The ZODI Outback Gear Extreme SC Hot Shower is sturdy and dependable shower equipment that has impressed a lot of users. It comes with a 6-foot hose, pump for water pressure, and a multi-functional 10,000 BTU burner. The water canister has a level and temperature indicator to regulate the heating process.

This is one of the showers that caught the attention of numerous buyers. Let’s further discuss the features and performance of this camping shower based on the following topics: functionality, ease of set-up, portability, durability, and value for money.

Staying clean is an important aspect of camping. Lucky for us modern nature enthusiasts, camping showers exist. We tested numerous products and we came up with a list of the best camping showers available in the market today.

From our testing and evaluations of the different showers, the ZODI Outback Gear Extreme SC Hot Shower is one of the shower equipment that stands out the most. The capability of this device is truly extensive and it can provide the performance that may respond to your needs.

Let’s have a bit of a description of its specs while discussing our observations.

This shower has a canister with a 10,000 BTU burner. BTU stands for the British Thermal Unit which measures the volume of energy that is needed to heighten the temperature of water at one-degree Fahrenheit.

Aside from the said gears, it also comes with a 6-foot hose with shower head with a hand pump for water pressurizer. This was designed so that you will not be needing any batteries for this shower to function.

The pressure it can hold is really admirable because it brings strength to the sprinkle of water through its showerhead. However, the showerhead is considerably small which makes you think that it has a weak capacity. But, with the amount of pressure, it battles the said drawback. Another positive feature is the water hose as it is longer if we compare it to other hoses partnered with other products.

If you try to search this shower’s physical features, you may conclude that it is a one body type of equipment but for clarification, no it’s not. Some parts are detachable and some parts are built-in. The burner can be transformed into a camping or cooking stove which makes it multi-functional. That is just hitting two birds in one stone.

The canister has a temperature and water level indicator instilled on the sides. That allows you to know the amount of water inside. The same thing goes for its temperature, you can adjust it by observing the indicator.

All in all, we don’t find any huge factor that you really need to take note of. The functionality is commendable and maybe a solution to the shower that you are searching for.

Ease of Set-Up

If we talk about the ease of setup of  the ZODI Outback Gear Extreme, we assure you that you won’t be wasting minutes to fully install it. However, bear in mind that the parts are detachable so you need a bit of effort in order for you to be able to use it. We will be discussing the set up for you to visualize it.

The burner stand is a tripod and those legs can be removed. Although this looks like an advantage for storage purposes, we notice a little instability when you put the water canister to heat it. After you install the stand, proceed by putting water into the canister then place it on top of the burner.

Ensure that you lit the burner and attached the propane under it. You can now insert the pump then pump, twist, and lock. Lastly, attach the hose. The sprinkle works with an on and off lever.

What we like about the water canister is the funnel-like design which prevents the water from leaking or spilling when you are filling it.  The heating system works faster compared to other showers with heaters. But, we noticed that the pressure valve is small. That is a disadvantage when you are going to free the pressure after using it because it is indeed slow.

Just like other equipment, we advise you to conduct regular maintenance for long-lasting use. Wash the canister and lubricate some parts that are detachable to avoid it from being rigid every time you use it.

If portability is your most prioritized feature, then this shower may not be suitable for you. The whole structure of the ZODI Outback Gear Extreme is totally heavy and bulky. We recommend you to transport it with a vehicle because carrying it around will be a struggle.

The total weight of this shower is 11.8 pounds and the product dimension is 27 x 11 x 10 inches. The weight is absolutely heavy which is not advisable for hiking, trekking, and light backpacking. Even though it has a storage bag which makes the whole parts compact and prevents you from losing its elements, this does not lessen the weight.

The storage bag is best for carriage because it can be easily used and there are handles for you to hold. If you are planning to bring this on your outdoor activity, be sure that the place you are going to has a parking space for your vehicle because, as we have mentioned, you may not want to carry this heavy equipment alone.

This is considered as another disadvantage since the size and weight limits the usage. Not the function, but the activity you are planning to go on. The materials used to produce this shower is the reason why it is heavy. We will be discussing this in the Durability section of this review.

Camping showers are a wonderful invention that allows us to freshen up even when we’re in the middle of the woods. There are different kinds of camping shower that you can purchase and they all work in different ways. Read our article to learn more about how camping showers work.

The materials used to manufacture this product is the factor that makes it heavy. This applies most to its durability features. What makes this sturdy?

The parts of the shower, both the canister and stove are made with rustproof stainless steel.  It does not only protect your steel from the formation of stains but also hampers the corrosion of rust on its surface. Stainless steel is widely used by manufacturers of different equipment as it is known to be formidable and dependable as time goes by.

With all of the positive features you can get with ZODI Outback Gear Extreme, there are still some downsides. We describe the whole structure of this shower to be totally durable however, the material used to produce the showerhead is not steel but plastic. But don’t worry, that does not affect the performance and functionality of the hose. It’s just that plastic materials are somehow not that sturdy.

From our evaluation, this is undoubtedly a durable shower equipment. Some camping showers may be portable but the materials used to produce it may not be strong if you compare it to this.

Value for Money

High quality is equal to an expensive price. This is an expected fact that applies to all of the things sold. And if you are going to buy cheaper ones, don’t anticipate many positive features. We always observe this on every product we have reviewed.

Rest assured that you can have the quality that you need if you buy ZODI Outback Gear Extreme. We don’t have anything to complain about in this aspect as it is just fair and reasonable from our perspective.

Taking a shower is still the best way to clean yourself and freshen up. When you’re camping, you don’t have the luxury of unlimited water supply. Still, this does not mean that you can’t have a proper shower. Read our article to learn how to shower while camping.

If you are looking for a durable and fast heating system, we really recommend this shower. Although this is bulky, heavy, and pricey, you can get a high quality performance that you may not be able to experience on other products.

The temperature and water level indicator are completely essential to the functionality of the shower. The capacity to heat the water up to 100 degrees is a commendable feature. So if you want a peak caliber type of shower, the ZODI Outback Gear Extreme might be the camping shower that you’re looking for.
