Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed with Safety (Review)
Published: July 14, 2021
The Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed is one of the most sought out kids camping bed in the market today. With its safe and durable materials, long bed rail bumpers, and superb comfort, you’ll be sure that your kids are safe even if you don’t sleep beside them at night.
Dimensions: 62” x 38” x 11”
With the help of our parent campers and their children, we were able to test out the Hiccapop Toddler Bed at the Rocky Mountain National Park. The inlay-enforced vinyl material, velvet flocked mattress, reinforced weld-seams, and high-quality air valve make this camp bed a cut above its competitors.
Most of our kid campers chose this air bed again and again because they felt comfortable and protected by the bed rail bumpers. Our parent campers also prefer to use this bed over other products because it’s lightweight, compact, easy to set up, and affordable too.
We’re also happy to know that the material that was used is Phthalate, BPA, and lead-free. If you’re looking for a safe travel bed for camping that exceeds all federal standards when it comes to child safety, you should definitely check out this product.
Comfort and Warmth
Hiccapop uses a velvet flocked mattress for this inflatable toddler bed. This type of material is known to be one of the smoothest components to use when it comes to camping mattresses. It’s also fairly quiet to use, even if you’re kids constantly move in the bed, you won’t hear any plastic-y sound compared to other models.
Like what we have mentioned earlier, the materials that were used are Phthalate, BPA, and lead-free so it’s reassuring for us to let our kids use this and market this as well. We can all agree that the safety of our children is our top priority which is why the long bed rails of this bed are a plus for us.
This inflatable toddler bed has 25% longer and 25% taller bed rail bumpers compared to its direct competitors which we absolutely love. Even if our kids are out camping, having a backyard night out, or just simply using this bed at the comforts of our home, we’re not worried about them falling off the edge in the middle of the night.
Since this toddler bed offers great comfort and outstanding safety features, we can definitely say that his mattress is very much versatile. It’s not limited to just being a great kids camping bed, but your children can also use this for other purposes like sleepovers with their friends.
We recommend this toddler bed to all the parents who are concerned about their kids who are beginning their transition from a crib to a kid’s bed. Since we can’t let our kids sleep in our own bed, it can be difficult for them to sleep comfortably in their crib when they’re 18 months old or older. You can use the Hiccapop toddler bed as their transitioning bed.
It’s the perfect solution to this awkward problem since there’s still a guard around your kid with the rail, but it’s also big enough for them to adjust to a large bed. Once they’ve outgrown it, they can still use this when they have overnight with friends or if your guests have kids with them.
Weight and Packed Size
The Hiccapop Inflatable toddler travel bed weighs 8 pounds in total, has 62” x 38” x 11” dimensions, and a 49×26 sleeping area. We can definitely say that this is a lightweight and compact travel bed for kids in which parents can happily carry around or stuff in their car whenever needed.
Although this is not the lightest toddler bed in our reviews, it still has a great advantage in terms of comfort and safety which is our top priority.
Ease of Use
When you purchase this toddler bed, it already comes with an electric pump, a large travel bag, and a repair kit. By using the electric pump provided, it only took us an average time of 30 seconds to fully inflate the bed. We also tried to inflate the bed using a manual pump, in case you forget to bring an e-cord with you, and it only took us an average time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds to inflate it.
Deflating the bed is also fairly easy. All you have to do is open the valve, let the air out, and roll the bed to remove all the air. Once you’re done with this, you can easily roll the bed nicely and put it on the stuff sack provided.
With the reinforced weld-seams and inlay-enforced vinyl, we’re confident that this material is thicker compared to its direct competitors. Since it’s vinyl, it’s not 100% puncture-proof so you need to remove any sharp object (i.e. stones, sticks) under and around this inflatable bed.
It uses a classic valve which can sometimes cause an air leak. Although we haven’t experienced this ourselves, there were multiple complaints online regarding air leaks and leaving their children almost lying on the ground. It seems that Hiccapop is aware of this issue and they offer a lifetime guarantee on all their products but doesn’t elaborate on their “guarantee” coverage.
If you ever encounter this situation, Hiccapop included a repair kit in this package. They also have printed the instructions on how to properly inflate and repair on the bed itself. Meaning, there’s no need to keep any paper instructions and get confused about how you do it.
The Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler travel bed has these advantages:
- Tall and long bed rails
- Reasonable price
- Can fit almost all blankets and sheets
- Easy to inflate and deflate
- Compact and easy to store
- Comfortable for children
- Comes with electric pump and repair kit
Although we chose this as one of the best in the market, we still found multiple disadvantages to it. These are:
- There are no sheets and pillow included
- Multiple complaints about air leaks
- Has an initial plastic smell
Whether you’re looking for kids camping bed or a great transition bed for your child, the Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed with Safety Bumpers is a great choice. It has all the right materials to keep your child safe from toxins and chemicals, it has a tall and long bed rail to keep your child from falling off the edge, and it comes at a reasonable price.
